Pawprint stepping stones

Making stepping stones may sound super involved, but this craft is easier than you think!

What you'll need:

  • Cement
  • Petroleumjelly
  • Disposable aluminumpie pan

Instructions:

  1. Grease your aluminumpan with the petroleum jelly.

  2. Pour your mixed concrete into your disposable pan. Allow the concrete to settle for 25 minutes.

  3. Place a towel and bowl of warm soapy water beside the pie pan.

  4. Lubricate Fido's paw with the rest of the petroleum jelly. Coat both the top and bottom of the paw to prevent the concrete from sticking to their fur.

  5. Gently press your pup's foot into the concrete-coated pie pan.

  6. Once you've taken the print, rinse your pup's paw in the bowl of soapy water, using care to remove any remaining concrete from their foot.

Heart-shaped "paw-per" weights

Your dog will happily help you spruce up your desk with this cute craft.

What you'll need:

  • Large bowl
  • Mixing spoon
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3/4 to 1 cup water
  • Red food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the flour, salt, vegetable oil, and 3 to 5 drops of food coloring (or enough to turn the dough a bright pink color). You may want to use gloves for this step since the food coloring can stain skin.

  2. Slowly add in the water while stirring continuously.

  3. Turn your dough out on a surface and form a heart shape with your hands.

  4. Press your pup's paw into the salt clay. If you don't like the initial print, ball up the clay, and reform it.

  5. Let dry at room temp for 72 hours or until hardened.

  • Craft knife
  • Pencil
  • Non-toxic paint
  • Paintbrush

  • Washi tape

Instructions:

  1. Lay out your brown craft paper flat on the floor, then place the book on top like you would if you were wrapping a present.

  3. Cut along your traced line using your scissors and craft knife.

  4. Close the book and place it in the middle of the paper. Fold the excess craft paper against the book's top and bottom — this should create a crease.

  5. Lay your closed book over top of the top and bottom creases.

  7. Use non-toxic acrylic paint to create paw print patterns.

  8. Lastly, top it off with your pup's picture taped down with some washi tape.

  • Bristle paint brushes
  • Scissors (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prime your canvas with white paint and let it dry completely. Repeat this step twice or until you can no longer see divots in the canvas.

  2. Lightly sketch out the general placement of your "bouquet" using a sharp pencil.

  3. Paint your pup's paws with a single color of paint and press their foot down on the canvas where the blossoms would be. Repeat this using various colors until all your flowers are placed.

  4. Take green paint on a small round brush and place diagonal lines from each blossom to the lower part of the page, crisscrossing at the base.

  5. If you'd like, create a small bow with the ribbon and hot glue it down where the stems intersect.
