Frank helped me create these pretzel bone treats. He may have even donated a bone or two. 😉
Directions on how to make Pretzel Bones
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Push a mini marshmallow on each end of a pretzel stick.
- Melt white candy by heating it in the microwave for 45 seconds, stirring, and repeating until melted and smooth.
- Using a fork, dip in white chocolate to coat thoroughly, shaking off excess, and place on the prepared sheet.
- Place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to set up.
- You can optionally use a sharp knife to trim off excess chocolate than ran off.
- Heat chocolate for another 30 seconds and stir.
- Dip each bone again (shaking off excess) and return to the tray.
- Place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to set up.
What Is The Best Chocolate To Use For Making These Bones
I use candy melts. They melt down creamy and dip and spread well. Then within a few minutes, it hardens up.
If you use white chocolate chips, add some shortening, like a teaspoon, as you melt down the chocolate.
This will help it set up quicker.
Can I Make These In Advance
If you use these as a dessert to serve at your Halloween bash or even for a school party, prep ahead.
You can make these a day or two in advance. You don’t want to go too far in advance, or you run them going stale.
How to Store Chocolate-Covered Pretzels
You can keep these pretzels in an airtight container or sealable bag to store them.
I find that using parchment paper in between stacking layers helps prevent the treats from sticking together.
Can You Freeze
Don’t plan to eat these right away?
Freeze any leftover pretzels you don’t plan to eat immediately.
Just place it in a proper container and store right in the freezer for 3-5 months.
Then thaw on the counter and enjoy it!
The marshmallows will change slightly in texture, but other than that, these are a fun treat to keep on hand for when you crave sweets.
Can I Use Gluten-Free Pretzels
If you want a gluten-free Halloween dessert, swap the classic pretzels with a gluten-free pretzel.
This is a great way to create a tasty treat that fits their dietary needs.
So grab your few ingredients and make this fun and easy Halloween treat!
