Academic Support Services - Tutoring

The Malcolm X College Academic Support Center supports student success through peer, professional, and embedded tutoring. Services are offered through one-on-one sessions, small group study sessions, chapter reviews, and workshops.


ACCESS Center

The ACCESS Center(AC) provides coordination and supportive services for students with documented disabilities.


Accreditation and Compliance Office

The Office of Accreditation and Compliance (OAC) serves as a resource on regional and specialized regulatory and accreditation matters for all Malcolm X College (MXC) academic programs.

Adult Education

Adult Education is a comprehensive program of free classes for adult students who need to learn or improve their English language or basic literacy skills, obtain a GED® certificate, or prepare for the Citizenship exam.


Advising

Academic Advisors are available to assist you at every stage of your education at Malcolm X College -- from clarifying education and career goals, to academic planning, to helping you succeed along your journey, to applying for graduation.


Alternative High School (16 to 21 years old)

Did you drop out of high school? Are you 16 to under 21 years of age? You can earn a high school diploma at the City Colleges of Chicago! Apply at Olive-Harvey Middle College, Truman Middle College, or one of the alternative high schools listed below.

Assessment

The structure of assessment at Malcolm X College empowers administrators, faculty members, and staff to improve student learning and the student experience by acting on valid and reliable data collected using a variety of measurement strategies.


Auxiliary Services

Oversees the day-to-day operations related to campus building management and operations in an effort to provide an efficient, safe and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, staff and the general public.

Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program

The Basic Nursing Assistants (BNA) program prepares students to work in the healthcare industry as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Students are introduced to the discipline of nursing and the basic approaches to patient care.

Business

​General Business is the study of basic business administration which can lead to employment in management positions in business, industry or government such as accounting, economics, finance, labor economics, marketing, and personnel management.​

Business Services is responsible for protecting the assets of the college by ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to while maintaining the financial integrity of the college.

Child Development

The mission of the Malcolm X College Child Development Program is to prepare students of diverse backgrounds and abilities with the knowledge and practical experience necessary to foster developmentally appropriate experiences for young children.


Child Development Laboratory Schools

The City Colleges of Chicago operates Child Development Laboratory Schools at five of its campus locations that allow students to take classes knowing their children are well attended.

Community Health Worker

Dental Hygiene

The Dental Hygiene Program is 2 years. Upon completion, students earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT)

Malcolm X College, Health Careers offers EMT training during the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters. This course is a comprehensive introduction to the emergency medical services and the treatment of the sick and injured.

Engineering - Plant Maintenance

Members are comprised of experienced professionals who are skilled in a broad range of trades and technical disciplines. Engineers help to prevent facilities-related problems and, when needed, quickly investigate and solve problems.


Event Management - Space Rental

Ensures places in which people work, play, learn and live are safe, comfortable, productive and sustainable. Operate across different business functions, working on both a strategic and operational level. Generates and maintains facilities use agreements.

The Associate in Applied Science in Health Information Technology program is designed to prepare students for a variety of entry-level positions within the healthcare industry.


Human Resources

The Office of Human Resources fosters a healthy, productive, engaging, and inclusive environment that leads to success by empowering employees and building a community that attracts, retains, and develops a talented and diverse workforce.

Information Technology (IT)

The Office of Information Technology’s (OIT) mission is to support improve student outcomes by providing an innovative technology environment that promotes and supports student success and improves teaching, learning, and operations.


International Student Services

International Student Advisors at Malcolm X College support all of the educational needs and immigration requirements of international students.


The simulation technology helps allow students to practice and perfect skills, tasks and communication in a safe environment.

Janitorial Services

Provides cleaning and disinfecting services to maintain a well-functioning and safe facility that is conducive to a quality learning and work environment for all who encounter the Main Campus and West Side Learning Center.

Learning Communities Program

Learning Communities are collaborative teaching and learning experiences that team two or more classes taken together around a common theme.


Level UP - Office of Instruction

Level Up is a free supportive readiness program that helps to prepare students for college-level Math and English coursework.

Welcome to the C. G. Woodson Library. Your CCC ID is your library card. Students and faculty have access to Library faculty/staff assistance, library instruction, research resources, and study/computing space.

Mammography Technologist Profession

The program empowers students of diverse backgrounds to achieve academic career and personal success. Graduates to become licensed and certified entry level mammographers, and employed upon completion of all program requirements.

The Advanced Certificate program in Medical Assisting prepares students to become multi-skilled health care professionals qualified to perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory procedures.

The Medical Billing Program-BC program is designed to provide the student with the suitable education and hands-on skills necessary for entry-level positions as medical insurance billers for offices, clinics, billing services, and other facilities.

The Patient Care Technician basic certificate prepares students for the National Healthcareer Certification’s (NHA) examination.

Personal Fitness Training

A PFT can work in a membership based fitness setting, corporate fitness and wellness centers, private personal training studios, in home with clients and also at rehabilitation and weight loss environments.

Pharmacy Technology

The purpose of the Pharmacy Technology Program is to train students to work in community, hospital, and other pharmacy settings as pharmacy technicians.

Phlebotomy

Phlebotomists draw both venous and arterial blood specimens from patients and send blood to the laboratory. In some cases physician approval is required.

Physical Therapist Assistant

A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the direct supervision of a physical therapist in a variety of settings to assist patients regain functional mobility to return to meaningful athletic, home, work, and community activities.

President - Malcolm X College

The President of the College is the chief executive, administrative, and education officer and derives authority from, and is responsible to the Chancellor of the City Colleges of Chicago and the Board of Trustees.

Radiography

The radiographer uses procedures by which x-radiation is used to obtain radiographs for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Procedures can show internal organs—heart, blood vessels, stomach, intestines, kidneys, and abnormalities of the bones.

Respiratory Care

The A.A.S. in Respiratory Care will offer the study of theory and techniques instrumental in diagnosis, treatment, management, and preventative care of patients with cardiopulmonary problems.

Surgical Technology

The Associates in Applied Science Degree in Surgical Technology is a full time, two-year program with the core courses in Surgical Technology beginning each Fall semester. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Board Certification Exam.

Testing Resources Center

The Testing Resources Center provides a variety of testing services to assist students as they pursue their academic goals.


Transfer Center

TRIO Educational Opportunity Center

The Educational Opportunity Center assists adults seeking to advance their educational credentials.


TRIO Student Support Services

The TRiO Student Support Services program provides help to low-income, disabled or first-generation college students achieve a college education.
